Meet Brody and Chloe!

Happy Holidays! I was inspired to check out the website again after I opened an early Christmas present from my mother...a 2007 Dobie calendar. I've been meaning to write for years now to tell everyone how much joy Brody and Chloe bring to us on a daily basis in hopes to encourage others with a loving home to adopt.
These dogs have made us laugh so hard we've cried. Non-dog owners have absolutely no idea what they are missing. Take a glimpse into life with Dobies:
We found Brody after months of searching for our first Dobie. We nicknamed him "Bubba" and he faithfully answers to both. He was thin and timid when we met him in February 2004 but has developed quite a personality. He sneezes when he's excited and when trying to contain his bark. He is a moaner...purrs when petted and loved on. He likes to "tell secrets", which is his way of checking someone out or just welcoming us home at the end of the day. He has a loud, thunderous bark, which literally cleared a path for us when we took him to a local parade and he spied a thick, hairy husky who he didn't seem to like. That same day, a mother pushed her stroller up to his face and an excited toddler reached out and grabbed at his mouth before we could stop it. Turns out there was no need to be alarmed as Brody is the most gentle giant you could ever meet--so long as you're not a thick, hairy dog. He goes crazy for walks, squirrels drive him mad, and he MUST lie on the pillows at the head of the bed (or on our heads). He didn't know what to do with the toys we bought him. It took him a couple months to show any interest in playing. That all changed, of course, when we brought home who we call "The Girl", "Princess", "Madame Pee Pee", and "Crabby B". Oh yeah...and "Chloe".
We found our girl on the website in July 2004. We figured Brody needed a playmate and were looking for a red female and wanted to name her "Chloe". The same day I thought up her name I looked on the website and saw her - Chloe - no lie, that was her name. I knew she was meant to be in our home and my husband to this day thinks I made this up. Anyway, if you're ever looking for Chloe, you can find her jumping on, laying on top of or in some way, shape or form, pestering Brody. I'll explain the nicknames to give some insight into her personality...there are many sides of Chloe. The Girl is more neutral, when she's just hanging out, being good, not causing a ruckus. "Princess" comes from my husband. He calls her this when she's just plain loveable - which is often. She is a very emotionally needy dog, but is sweet, sweet, sweet. We call her "Madame Pee Pee" because she does have a little bladder problem, which we were told happens with spays. She is on medication for it and it's a bearable problem because she is so darn sweet. And finally, "Crabby B." because she gets irritable when she's tired...gives a little growl when she wants to be left alone. But when she wants to be left alone, she really doesn't. She's such a Dobie. The funniest thing about Chloe is when she gets the "woolies". This where she gets a burst of energy and darts from rug to rug across the hardwood floors, up the stairs, down the stairs, around the coffee table...plowing through anything in her way (we'll have to work on this when we have children). She's even given Brody a touch of the "woolies", although, he is much more cool than animated.
Sometimes they won't go outside for no reason. They don't like to get their paws wet. They are loveable, emotional, smart, protective of their house, and pushovers all at the same time. Dobies are a great breed. Loyal, loving, intelligent, easy to groom and easy to love.
Thank you for all the work you do for the breed, DRNC! Thank you for Brody and Chloe.
