Meet Cooper!

Hi, I’m Cooper!

I have a new Mom - Connie, and Dad – Rick, and sister - Zena. I joined my new forever family on the day before Thanksgiving 2009. I did miss my foster Mom for some time but I really like my new family.

I really feel loved by my Mom and Dad and even my older sister, but she’s sort of bossy at times. We all play together often on my new big fenced property. It’s really big and I often race with my sister up and down and back and forth across the woods. Sometimes we stop to rest and just lie around, or go back to the porch and take it easy or nap (we like to do that often).

Sometimes we see a squirrel from a long distance away and go charging down to the tree where we saw it and stand guard there watching. If my Dad goes outside to do anything, I must also go outside to see what he’s up to and to supervise him. When my Dad opens the pick-up truck door, I just jump right in and I’m ready to go anywhere. When my Mom grabs a leash I get really excited because I just love to go for walks any time.

I’m getting plenty of exercise and maybe even grown taller so I’m looking mighty fine, if I do say so myself. I really like being close to Mom and Dad, and often lay down close by or will rest my head on them when I get the chance (I think they like that). My sister, who was rescued on Christmas Day in 2008, is more independent and not quite so close to Mom and Dad, but she seems to be getting more so, especially when I’m getting some attention.

Mom and Dad really like how well I watch the property. When people pass by I’ll give them a greeting just to let them know I’m watching. Sometimes they get too close or don’t smell too good so I give them a sound warning to keep their distance. Mom and Dad like that too. Sometimes my sister will come running up also, and we both will give the greeting. Seems that folks just move along quietly and maybe a little more quickly. Some people that I see more often, I just give a bark to say Hello.

Anyway, I’m very happy in my new home and I love my Mom, Dad and sister lots. They love me too and they often tell me so and how glad they are that I could be in their family.

I will always be so grateful to Leslie and Ellen at Doberman Rescue of North Carolina for taking such excellent care of me and working hard to find me my forever home.
